Getting Started

01 How much does it cost to publish a book in the UK?

It depends on what your book needs: its length, the level of editing, the formats you want and whether it includes illustrations. We review your manuscript first and then send a clear, itemised quote, so you only pay for what your book actually requires.

02 How do first-time authors get published?

There are three main routes: traditional publishing (usually through a literary agent), self-publishing, and assisted publishing with a professional team. We work with first-time authors every day and will explain honestly which route suits your book.

03 Do traditional publishers accept unsolicited manuscripts?

Most large traditional publishers only consider manuscripts submitted through a literary agent. Assisted publishing lets you skip that queue while still getting professional editing, design and distribution.

04 Do I keep the rights to my book?

Yes. You keep ownership of your work and creative control at every stage. We follow strict confidentiality policies and offer NDAs on request.

05 What formats can my book be published in?

We prepare print-ready files for paperback and hardback, plus EPUB and Kindle files for eBook stores, and we can support audiobook production too.

06 Which genres do you work with?

Fiction, non-fiction, memoir, business, self-help, children’s books, poetry, academic and more. See the full list of genres we publish above.

Publishing

01 How do first-time authors get published in the UK?

Through traditional publishing (usually via a literary agent), self-publishing, or assisted publishing with a professional team like ours. We work with first-time authors every day and explain each option honestly.

02 Do I keep the rights to my book?

Yes. You keep full ownership of your work and creative control throughout. We follow strict confidentiality policies and offer NDAs on request.

03 Which formats can you publish?

We prepare print-ready files, EPUB, Kindle and PDF, covering eBook, paperback and hardback editions, with audiobook support available.

04 Do you provide an ISBN?

We handle ISBN and metadata set-up as part of the publishing process, so your book is correctly listed with retailers.

05 How long does publishing take?

It depends on how much editing and design your book needs. Once we’ve reviewed your manuscript we’ll give you a realistic timeline.

Ghostwriting

01 Will the book really sound like me?

Yes. Your ghostwriter studies how you speak and write through interviews, recordings and any material you share, and you review every chapter so the voice stays yours.

02 Who owns the finished book?

You do. Full rights pass to you and your name goes on the cover. We follow strict confidentiality policies and offer NDAs on request.

03 How long does it take to ghostwrite a book?

It depends on length and research. Shorter guides can be completed in weeks, while full-length novels and memoirs typically take several months with review stages built in.

04 What do I need to get started?

Just an idea and the time for a few conversations. Notes, outlines, voice memos or a partial draft all help, but none of them are required.

05 Can you help publish the book afterwards?

Yes. Once the manuscript is approved we can take it through editing, cover design, formatting, publishing and marketing.

06 Can you write a novel from just an idea?

Yes. Many of our fiction projects begin with a premise or a few scenes. We develop the outline with you before any chapters are written.

07 Which fiction genres do you ghostwrite?

Literary and commercial fiction, thriller, crime, mystery, romance, fantasy, science fiction, historical, horror, children’s and young adult.

08 How long should my novel be?

It depends on the genre. We’ll recommend a target word count that matches reader and retailer expectations for your category.

Editing & Formatting

01 What is the difference between line editing and copy editing?

Line editing improves how your sentences read: rhythm, clarity and style. Copy editing corrects grammar, spelling, punctuation and consistency. Many books benefit from both.

02 How many editing rounds are included?

Our editing packages include up to five structured editing and revision rounds, with one-to-one consultations along the way.

03 Will editing change my voice?

No. Our editors refine your writing while preserving your voice, and every change is tracked so you stay in control.

04 What file formats do you work in?

We edit in Word and deliver final files in Word and PDF. Additional formats can be provided on request.

05 Do you edit academic and technical manuscripts?

Yes. We edit theses, research, textbooks, manuals and specialist non-fiction, as well as fiction and memoir.

06 What is the difference between print and eBook formatting?

Print formatting fixes every element on the page, including margins, gutters and page numbers. eBook formatting creates reflowable files that adapt to different screens and font sizes.

07 Which file formats will I receive?

Print-ready PDFs for paperback and hardback, plus EPUB and Kindle files for eBook stores.

08 Can you format books with images and tables?

Yes. We format illustrated children’s books, textbooks and non-fiction with images, tables, footnotes and figures.

Design & Marketing

01 What makes a good book cover?

A good cover signals the genre instantly, stays readable as a small thumbnail and makes the right reader curious enough to click.

02 How many design revisions are included?

Multiple revision rounds are included, and our designers keep refining until the cover matches your vision.

03 Can I share reference covers and ideas?

Yes. We welcome references, mood boards and style preferences to guide the design.

04 What files will I receive?

Print-ready PDFs, high-resolution eBook and audiobook covers, and files suitable for all major platforms.

05 Who owns the cover design?

You do. All design rights belong to you, and we follow strict confidentiality policies with NDAs on request.

06 What is the best way to market a book in the UK?

There’s no single channel that works for every book. The best results come from combining retailer optimisation, social media and targeted promotion chosen for your genre and readers.

07 Can you market a book that’s already published?

Yes. We regularly relaunch and revitalise existing titles with refreshed descriptions, keywords, advertising and promotion.

08 Do I approve marketing materials before they go live?

Absolutely. All creatives, ads and messaging are shared with you for approval.
